School lunches. It is the bane of my existence. Figuring out what to make, packing it up, having it come back uneaten. Doing it all over again the next day. Yugh.
While Lunch Box Letters from Firefly Books ($12.95) doesn’t make lunch making easier, it may bring a bit of joy to the maker (me) and the receiver, my guy who I know reads the notes I leave in his lunch bag because I often find them saved.
These colourful notes, decorated with cartoon drawings, have perforated edges so they tear out easier. They also have a prompt on the top of the page to make writing easier: “You’re an amazing kid because…; Don’t forget…; I am proud of you because…” and a joke (If an athlete gets athlete’s foot, what does an astronaut get? A missile-toe – ha, ha), tongue twisters and reward at the bottom of the page (This coupon is good for one free movie night with popcorn).
It would be even better if they had of noted “If you eat your lunch.”
A copy of this book was provided by Firefly Books for an honest review.
The opinions are my own.
