The STEAM team, consisting of a beaker, a tablet, a gear, a pencil and a set square, also known as a triangle, simplifies science to make it easy to understand and enjoyable.

The DK book ($21.99) is colourful and offers a mix of cartoons\illustrations and real images to explain how different subjects “work together to show you how the world works.”

We learn about the universe and our solar system (including how Jupiter is so huge that all the other planets in the solar system can fit inside it); the water cycle and evolution (“The ancestors of whales lived on land. Over time, they grew bigger and bigger and moved to different places, including the ocean.”); microlife (yuck, including pictures of head lice, insert itching here) and animals (including the Bumblebee bat. Look it up.)

There is so much information on each page, explained in a way that made it easy to understand and really interesting.

A copy of this book was provided by DK Books for an honest review.
