I saw Return of the Jedi in the theatre. I have seen the first five movies, The Last Jedi and watched a fair bit of The Clone Wars (which is really not for kids). I wouldn’t say I am a Star Wars newbie, but I also can’t say I am a Star Wars expert. I get pieces of the story mixed up in my head and I don’t always follow along.

So to celebrate #MaytheFourth, DK Books kindly sent me a copy of Star Wars Made Easy, A Beginner’s Guide to a Galaxy Far, Far, Away.

And after reading it, I must say I am even more impressed with George Lucas‘ genius and imagination than I was originally. There is just so much going on in each movie as noted by the book. The book begins with the basics, including how Lucas was inspired to make the films and what books he drew inspiration from with his his own story. We get to see the family tree, learn about the important planets in his far away galaxy and see the good guys and the bad guys. Each episode has its own At a Glance section as well as information through pictures, infographs, quotes and short paragraphs of knowledge.

I like the Star Wars franchise and will likely eventually watch all the movies – and re-watch them with my son, who is ready to check them out. So at least when he asks who is Queen Amidala, I can actually provide an answer. And if I don’t know who the Sith are, I can look it up.

A copy of this book was provided by DK Books for an honest review. The opinions are my own.
